8. Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions: Retreat

Q: Can I be new to Kundalini Yoga?

A: Absolutely! The 5 days will have a lot of yoga but the beauty of Kundalini Yoga is we all come together to do what we can and the collective group energy carries us. If you are new this is going to be a magnificent way to delve into these teachings. You will be with some of the finest Kundalini Yoga teachers in the world and under the great support of sisterhood and community.

Q: I’m new to Kundalini Yoga - what's sadhana?
A: Sadhana is a 2-hour morning practice consisting of prayer, yoga and meditation. It's powerful and uplifting!

Q: Do I need to bring my own yoga mat and other yoga props?

A: We recommend that you bring your personal items that will make you feel the most comfortable for yoga. This can include your yoga mat, bolster or cushion, blanket or rug, blocks, etc. Some yoga mats will be available at the Hacienda de San Antonia, but there will likely not be enough for everyone, so please bring what you think you will need.

Q: I'm confused by the payment process. Why do I have to make two separate payments?
A: The Retreat contains two separate elements: the RETREAT PASS that is paid to Golden Bridge Yoga Santa Monica for the Kundalini Yoga and overall Radiant Power of Women Retreat program, and separately, the ACCOMMODATIONS PACKAGE that is paid to the Hacienda de San Antonio for the accommodations and meal package for your stay. We broke the prices apart so you can better understand the value of the Retreat. You must pay for both the RETREAT PASS and the ACCOMMODATIONS PACKAGE in order to register for the Radiant Power of Women Retreat.

Q: Are there other accommodations options or offsite locations where I can stay?
A: A key part of our 5 days together on retreat is that we join together in support of one another and form as a group. So much more can be accomplished as a group then as individuals. With this in mind we require everyone on the retreat to stay at the Hacienda de San Antonio along with everyone else.

Q: Can I participate in only part of the Retreat?
A: We need everyone to be fully dedicated to our 5 days together. This is the only way we will be able to accomplish our goal of building community and sharing our experience together. You will have down time to relax and enjoy the surroundings, but we do require everyone to fully participate in the Retreat program.

Q: Can I bring a spouse or guest?
A: Everyone that attends will need to be participants in the Radiant Power of Women Retreat. Please schedule another time that you can spend with your spouse or guest in relaxation.

Q: Who will I room with if I book a double?
A: We do encourage you to book a double, even if you don't know anyone else on the retreat. You will have a new like-minded friend and someone you can buddy up with throughout the retreat. If you are planning to attend with a friend and prefer to room together please communicate this at the time of your reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions: Hacienda de San Antonio

Q: Tell me more about the Hacienda de San Antonio.
A: The Hacienda was originally built in 1890 as a working coffee plantation. It was bought in the 1970s by the Goldsmith family and finally opened as a hotel in the early 2000s. While it is still a working coffee plantation, farm and ranch, it is now a beautifully restored treasure unlike anywhere else in the world, welcoming us all to experience and enjoy all the amazement that it has to offer. The Goldsmith family takes great pride in providing a living Hacienda experience for their guests by presenting many aspects of regional art, cuisine, and traditional music, as well as the natural beauty and recreation offered in the surrounding grounds. They are also passionate about the protection and preservation of the natural environment and maintain the Cuixmala Ecological Foundation that sponsors a wide variety of programs to protect the region's rich biodiversity. More information about Hacienda de San Antonio can be found on their website: http://www.haciendadesanantonio.com/H/index.html

Q: What will the meals be like?
A: All meals will be made from ingredients sourced locally on the land surrounding the Hacienda de San Antonio. We will eat as a group at scheduled times and the service will be buffet style. All meals will be vegetarian with vegan option and will be 95% organic. Most of the meals for lunch and dinner will be of Mexican cuisine. Breakfast will include cereals, fruit, yogurt, breads and eggs.

Q: What are the rooms like?
A: All the rooms are located within the Hacienda, are generously sized and exquisitely decorated. To better visualize you may see photos of a few of the rooms within the Location Gallery above. Each room has shutter style windows that overlook a portion of the beautiful grounds that surround the Hacienda; they all have a large private bathroom, a fire place, large closet and storage space, and are an absolute pleasure to spend your restful hours in. The rooms offer US style electrical outlets; WIFI is also available in the rooms, but you may find that some locations in the Hacienda have a better signal then others.

You may choose between a double occupancy (in which case there will be two beds per room), or single occupancy (in which case there will be be one bed per room).

Q: What about tipping?
A: At the end of the retreat we will discuss as a group what we would collectively like to offer the staff of the Hacienda de San Antonio as gratuity for the service they provide us while we are there. Please do bring some additional cash as you see necessary so you are able to contribute to the group's offering.

Frequently Asked Questions: Travel to Mexico

Q: Do I need a passport?
A: If you are not a Mexican citizen you will need a passport to enter Mexico from the US. Your passport must be valid for the dates of your trip. If you do not have a passport please allow adequate time to get one. For information on how to apply for a passport visit www.travel.state.gov.

Q: Where should I fly into and when should I arrive?
A: If you are flying in from the US your two best options are to fly into either Manzanillo or Guadalajara. Manzanillo International Airport is served by Alaska Airlines from LAX, US Airways from Phoenix, and United from Houston. Guadalajara International Airport is served by most major carriers from both the US and Mexico. The Hacienda de San Antonio is approximately 2 hours by car from Manzanillo, and 2 1/2 hours from Guadalajara. There is also a domestic airport in Colima that is only 30 minutes from the Hacienda that can be connected to from the major airports.

Check in at the Hacienda de San Antonio will begin at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, January 24th, 2017. You should plan on arriving to your destination airport no later then early afternoon (but earlier is better) on the 24th to allow for ground transportation time to the Hacienda de San Antonio.

Q: How do I get from the airport to the Hacienda de San Antonio?
A: Transportation to the Hacienda de San Antonio is not included in the Retreat pricing. You can arrange for a shuttle through the Hacienda de San Antonio at the time of your Accommodations Package reservations (reservations@haciendadesanantonio.com). Shuttle service will be provided for $100 per person one way. In order to group students together in the shuttle we will schedule the pickup times at a later date once we know all the flight arrival times. You may also arrange for private car pickup if that is your desire.

Q: When should I depart?
A: The retreat will end after lunch on Sunday, January 29th, 2017. Check out will be by 12 noon. Shuttles for the necessary departure airports will leave shortly there after. You should schedule your departure flights for Sunday night; remember to account for the ground transportation time between the Hacienda de San Antonio and your airport, and any necessary flight check-in and preboarding time you will need. You may arrange for all your ground transportation needs through the Hacienda de San Antonio's reservations team: reservations@haciendadesanantonio.com

Q: Who do I contact if I have additional questions about the Retreat?
A: Please contact Wahe - she will be happy to answer any of your questions. Her email is wah@goldenbridgeyoga.com
